We rent a large rural rustic home at the equivelant of $75 per couple/night for a lakefront home, which is an exceptional bargain. It's not brand new, but it is a newer home with most of it's furniture which has only 9 months of use since new.
Tips for a comfortable stay:
Being that it's rural Vermont, it's natural beauty has trade-offs: We have our share of bugs and spiders, and we do not use alot of dangerous chemicals to kill them off but we do use indoor ultrasonic repellents. Be prepared with personal repellents if going outdoors, keep in mind that some will try to hitch a ride indoors on your body, so check to make sure their not so you don't give them access to the indoors and keep a fly swatter handy for those ones that make it past the front door.
Wildlife is abundant here as well, and we commonly see deer, cows, horses, fox, rabbits, squirrel, frogs, birds, bats, dragonflies, butterflies and of course fish! Our deep well water is safe to drink (it's not lake water-- like many homes) but most people prefer bottled drinking water.
If you break or damage something that is not a normal wear item, you are responsible for it, and please put back anything that you used to it's original place and condition you found it in too. These above things are totally common to renting in Vermont but people should be aware who visit in Vermont and are expecting something different.
